The 2010 Mind and Life Summer Research Institute (MSLRI) will be held at Garrison Institute (http://www.garrisoninstitute.org/home.php). in New York from June 14 (mid-afternoon) to the morning of June 20, 2010. The application process is online only. No paper applications, either mailed or faxed, will be accepted.
The application period closes at 7:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 21, 2010. Applications submitted after February 21, 2010 will not be accepted. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all documents are submitted including letters of recommendations to meet the submission deadline of 7:00 PM EST, Sunday, February 2010.
PART ONE: THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM:
To apply for the 2010 Mind and Life Summer Research Institute, you must first complete the Required Application Form, which will provide us with your name, mailing address, email address, and other pertinent personal/professional information.
PART TWO: APPLICATION DOCUMENTS YOU MUST UPLOAD
To complete your application for the 2010 Mind and Life Summer Research Institute, you must upload your essay, CV, (optional) list of up to 10 publications, and (Research Fellow Applicants only) two letters of recommendation.
An essay of no more than 400 words describing how this program will foster your research and/or career goals - specifically, how this program interfaces with your current or previous work and/or studies, and how you anticipate it impacting your future research or professional goals. Please use a 12 point font and 1' margins. Please respect our request and limit your essay to 400 words. Essays in excess of this limit will be disqualified.
An NIH Biosketch or comparable format Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume (2 pages maximum length). If you do not have an NIH biosketch, you may provide an abbreviated CV that includes educational history and training and previous and current positions. NOTE: The NIH Biosketch format for CV's is available under Downloadable Forms.
Optional: Please also include a list of up to 10 publications that have influenced your personal and/or career path. These are books, articles, etc. written by others.
Research Fellow Letters of Recommendation: All Research Fellows must provide the names of two recommendation providers under the "Recommendations" navigational tab. An automatic email will be sent to the online recommendation provider of your request for a recommendation. Although, contact with your recommendation will be automated, it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure contact has been made for the letter of recommendation and submit all documents to meet the submission deadline.
NOTE: Senior Investigators are not required to submit letters of recommendation.
Optional: Poster Presentations. If you are interested in participating in a poster session at the 2010 MLSRI, please also send a separate Word document containing a short title and 350 word (or less) abstract that describes your proposed poster.
There is an application fee of $45. If you are accepted to attend the 2010 MLSRI, the registration fee for Research Fellows is $350; for Senior Investigators, $675. This fee covers room and board for the program. In addition, each participant will be expected to cover his/her own travel expenses. Registration fee will be paid by accepted applicants at the time of registration.
