This project seeks to facilitate Forest Therapy sessions for socioeconomically vulnerable cancer patients from public hospitals in three cities in Chile. These walks will be implemented as a wellness tool from an integrative approach, addressing the physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs of people with cancer. In addition, through this contemplative practice, it is hoped to promote the cultivation of compassion and emotional connection with nature, inspiring pro-environmental behaviors. The sessions will be led by guides from the Fundación Floresta team, certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy of the United States. They will be offered to cancer patients in the Chilean cities of Calama, Santiago and Villarrica. It seeks to contribute to the vision of the Mind and Life Institute, based on the cultivation of well-being and resilience at the individual level to create more compassionate communities with other people and awareness of our interconnection with nature.

Organization implementing the project

Fundación Floresta is a non-profit organization founded in Chile in 2019. It facilitates Forest Therapy sessions for cancer patients free of charge. These walks are offered as a wellness tool from an integrative approach, addressing the physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs of people with cancer.

At the same time, through this contemplative practice it is hoped to promote the cultivation of compassion and affective connection with nature, inspiring pro-environmental behaviors and promoting Planetary Health.

The sessions are in charge of guides from the Fundación Floresta team, certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) of the United States.

We seek to contribute to the cultivation of well-being and resilience at the individual level to create more compassionate communities with the rest of the people and to be aware of the interconnection with nature.
